The Sistine Chapel, so magic a place –

St. Peter’s Basilica – what a grace …

With a broken toe

Many miles to go –

Roma, queen on earth,

Sacrifices worth …

Seven hills, no mountains,

Hundreds of great fountains –

Torsos and full statues,

Sometimes - papal head news …!

Rome-Sonnet

Oh History, you’re opening my heart –

More than a lifespan even could fulfil,

Endless the daydream’s pre-existing will:

Eternal classic places, full of art …

The Trevi Fountain coins returning fate –

Enormous three millenniums! High and tragic,

Rome: Nero’s ghost and Michelangelo’s magic,

No mankind’s might was center more and gate …

And do, once more, in Rome, like Romans do!

Let’s call this Now the future of all past,

Cancel all doctrine’s slings and arrows fast –

In history, this child of Chronos, too:

Therefore, what dreams may come, celestial dome,

Yet being timeless and old hero’s home …
